The Iruelas experience awaits you on the north face of the easternmost
point of the Gredos mountains. The VALLE DE IRUELAS, 80 km from Madrid
and 30 km from Ávila, is a natural site of great environmental
value, included in the Castilla-León´s Network of Protected
Areas (designated both nature reserve and ZEPA (Special Protection Zone
for Birds). The countryside is designated as of special interest for the
general public (Nº 60), and is the jewel in the crown of its owner,
the "Mancomunidad Municipal Asocio de la Extinguida Universidad y
Tierra de Avila".
This local entity is the driving force
behind "Valle de Iruelas Rural Tourism Centre", whose
principle aim is the conversion of the old rural hamlet of Las Cruceras,
and of the small industrial facilities which sprang up here for logging
and resin production, into a high quality tourist complex. |
